Beyond code, I find balance and inspiration through outdoor adventures and personal pursuits

HIKING

Living in Japan has given me incredible access to some of the most beautiful mountain trails in the world. Every weekend, I try to escape the city and immerse myself in nature, whether it's climbing peaks just outside Tokyo or tackling more challenging mountains in the Japanese Alps.

Hiking has become more than just a hobby—it's a form of meditation. The rhythm of walking, the fresh mountain air, and the stunning views provide the perfect counterbalance to hours spent coding and problem-solving. There's something deeply satisfying about reaching a summit after a challenging climb.

What I love most about hiking is the simplicity of it. There's no technology to distract you, no notifications demanding your attention. Just you, the trail, and the mountain ahead. It's in these moments of disconnection that I find clarity and inspiration for my work and life.

Each trail offers its own unique challenges and rewards, teaching me patience, perseverance, and the importance of taking things one step at a time—lessons that translate surprisingly well to software development. The journey matters as much as the destination.

Over the years, hiking has taught me to appreciate the beauty of gradual progress. Just as you can't rush to a summit, you can't rush to becoming a better engineer. It's about consistent effort, learning from each step, and enjoying the process along the way.

02 / FITNESS

GYM

As a software engineer, my lifestyle is predominantly sedentary—hours spent sitting at a desk, staring at screens, and solving problems with my mind rather than my body. This has led to weight gain and declining physical health, which is why I need the gym more than ever.

The gym isn't just about fitness for me—it's a necessity. It's where I actively fight against the negative effects of a desk job. Every session is a commitment to balance out the hours of sitting, to rebuild strength, and to take control of my health.

Starting this journey wasn't easy. Being overweight and out of shape meant every workout was challenging. But the gym has taught me that progress, no matter how small, is still progress. The discipline of showing up consistently mirrors the same persistence I bring to solving difficult coding problems.

COOKING

Cooking has become my creative outlet outside of coding. Living in Japan has exposed me to incredible culinary traditions, and I enjoy experimenting with both traditional Burmese dishes from my heritage and Japanese home cooking.
